Lawson's Dry Hills Pinot Rosé 2009
|
Region |
Marlborough |
Tasting Notes |
This wine has a bright raspberry hue, with aromas of strawberry and raspberry that leap out of the glass. On the palate the wine has crisp acidity, balanced by a sliver of sweetness. As with the nose, concentrated fresh berry fruit flavours explode on the palate, complementing a lovely creamy texture. |
Food Match |
A platter of fresh fruit and cheeses. |
Winemaker |
Marcus Wright / Rebecca Wiffen. |
Winemakers Notes |
To extract colour and fruit flavours from the skins, the grapes were crushed in to stainless steel tanks and held for forty-eight hours. Once pressed the juice was cool fermented with neutral yeasts to preserve the vibrant fruit characters. |
Viticulture Notes |
The grapes for our Rose were sourced from our Chaytors Road vineyard from nine year old 10/5 clone Pinot Noir vines. This vineyard was specially selected for Rose production, allowing us to pick the grapes r earlier in the season to retain the fruits natural acidity, whist keeping sugars and therefore alcohol at a relatively low level. The vines were spur pruned to encoutage small berries with intense colour and flavour. |
Cellaring |
Drink whilst fresh and young, enjoy the wonderful primary fruit characters. |
