Reviews
Northern Advocate Graeme Barrow -
WINE OF THE WEEK - Rich and creamy, off-dry, pear, spice and vanilla aromas, good balance, concentration and texture. Forward and ready to drink.
Vinote Wine Cellar Notes Glenda Neil -
Intense ripe pear and honey aroma,a small amount of the wine was fermented in old French oak barriques adding a lovely creamy texture and richness to the palate, just off-dry in style and very classy, serve with food, this is a serious wine.
TiZwine.com Tasting Tasting Panel. -
As you would expect from this winery, a high class wine. It is soft and luscious with a beautiful, unctuous texture. The aromas are of Turkish delight and the palate displays good fruit weight. Will keep improving too.
Capital Times Tasting Panel. -
Has a lovely pear aroma entirely appropriate for the style. There are also spicy notes and a hint of vanilla on the nose. A full mouth feel and a balanced pear and apple off dry palate make this a Pinot Gris of style.
Otago Daily Times Charmian Smith -
Floral with hints of summer fruit, a hint of oatmeal and nuts, this finely textured wine is full in the mouth, with layers of texture and a lingering aftertaste.
The Press (Christchurch) Tasting Panel. -
Lawson's Dry Hills is known for making one of the best New Zealand Pinot Gris and this one will reinforce that reputation. Attractive confectionary and friuty flavours are backed by good concentration and a medium sweetness, which skillfully balances the grapefruit-zest finish.
WineNZ Tasting Panel. -
Nicely fragant nose reminiscent of green apple juice. Palate is well flavoured and constructed with a hint of sweetness, citrus, pear and tropical fruits. Good firm mouthfeel. Well made.
Wine Orbit Sam Kim. -
FIVE STARS - 93 points. The nose is rich and opulent showing dried apricot, floral and subtle spice characters. It's powerful and concentrated on the palate with a silky texture, weighty mid palate and a beautifully lingering finish. simply gorgeous. At its best:now to 2011.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine Editors Choice - J.C. -
90 Points - With only 6.5g/L of residual sugar, this weighty wine comes across as almost dry, allowing the emphasis to be on the bold notes of melon, pear and citrus. It's rich without being overtly sweet, then finishes clean, with a touch of white pepper.
Winestate Magazine Tasting Panel. -
THREE STARS - Luscious creamy mango and orange blossom aromas and an oily palate with lychee rose petal flavours.
