Sustainable Winegrowing

Lawson's Dry Hills is a small family owned company and  has been a fully accredited (SWNZ) winery since 2009. We employ best possible practice in all areas of the winemaking process, From the growing of the grapes in the vineyards, right through to the finished wines. Our philosophy is a simple one - To produce premium quality Marlborough wines of great character and varietal expression.
All our grapes for the Lawson's Dry Hills range of wines come from fully accredited sustainable vineyards (SWNZ), we employ the simple maxim:- REDUCE - REUSE - RECYCLE.
We aim for continual improvement in all areas, looking for effective solutions that will help us reduce our footprint and use resources in a socially and environmentally responsible way.

Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ) was developed to:

1. Provide a “best practice” model of environmental practices in the vineyards and winery, to guarantee better quality assurance from the vineyard through to the bottle.
2. Address consumer concerns in matters pertaining to the environment and wine grape production.
3. Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand is an integral part of the future of New Zealand wine production.  The programme aims to deliver the following benefits to its members:

4. A framework for viticultural and winemaking practices that protect the environment while efficiently and economically producing premium winegrapes and wines.

5. A format of continual improvement to ensure companies operate with a goal of improving their operational practices.

6. A vehicle for technology transfer so that companies are kept informed of new technology and its application.

7. An audit structure that has integrity and rigour to comply with market expectations.
8. Opportunity to be a part of the positive future for New Zealand grape growers and winemakers.
