Wine Notes

Lawson's Dry Hills Unoaked Chardonnay 2008

Region
Marlborough
Tasting Notes
Red apple and citrus immediately jump out of the glass with peach aromas in the background.Crisp and dry,the palate shows lovely concentrated fruit that is combined with a subtle creamy texture. This wine displays classic Chardonnay varietal character unencumbered by oak or malolactic fermentation.
Food Match
Enjoy in moderation with creamy seafood pasta.
Winemaker
Marcus Wright / Rebecca Wiffen.
Winemakers Notes
The grapes were harvested and gently pressed to stainless steel tanks for fermentation at relatively cool temperatures with yeast selected to highlight the juice's natural fruit characters.Post fermentation the wine was stirred several times a week to encourage yeast autolysis, adding to the creamy texture on the palate.
Viticulture Notes
This wine was made from grapes predominantly from our Chaytors Road vineyard and is a mix of Mendoza and Clone six Chardonnay. The Mendoza clone provides a lovely tight acid structure whilst the Clone six brings tropical fruit charcters and a relatively low alcohol level.A small, but very good parcel of Clone six also came off the clay slopes of the Potez vineyard overlooking the Brancott Valley
Cellaring
This wine is made in a style to highlight the natural fruit charactersof the chardonnay and we recommend drinking the wine young; it will however develop lovely toasty secondary characters over the next couple of years.
