Lawson's Dry Hills White Label Pinot Noir 2009
|
Region |
Marlborough |
Tasting Notes |
Bright burgundy in colour. The nose has wonderful complexity with cherry and red berry fruit flavours, matched with well intergrated mocha and vanilla notes from the oak maturation. The palate is supple with soft tannins, gentle acidity and a pleasing length. Fruit flavours are to the fore, with some nice complexity coming from the barrel component of the blend. |
Food Match |
Lighter duck or game dishes. |
Winemaker |
Marcus Wright / Rebecca Wiffen. |
Winemakers Notes |
Our winemaking uses traditional Burgundian techniques of small batch fermentation, hand plunging and maturation in a mixture of 225 litre French oak barriques(40% of the blend). Following six months of maturation a selection of the best batches were blended to produce this wine. |
Viticulture Notes |
Selected from three vineyards within Marlborough's Wairau Valley. One is situated on a clay slope overlooking the Brancott Valley, the second is a short distance away in a sheltered part of the Omaka Valley, while the third is in the warmer Rapaura area of the Wairau Valley. |
Cellaring |
Two to three years, as this wine ages we will see additional complexity and the development of savoury mushroom and barnyard characters. |
