Michael Coopers Buyers Guide 2014 - FOUR STARS

The bouquet is floral and spicy, the palate is youthful with strong fresh plum and spice flavours, gently seasoned with toasty oak and ripe supple tannins.

Sydney International Wine Competition 2014 - HIGHLY COMMENDED.

Judges comments....Lovely fine grained fruit.Very complex, black cherries, richly layered with lovely grainy tannins. An excellent food wine - Brett Crittenden.

Berries, cherries and currants give this smooth sophisticated Marlborough red a full, rich flavour. It is certainly no lightweight lunchtime wine and will pair well with refined, well prepared meat dishes. There is a hint of vanilla, the oak is restrained and there is no discernible tannin. Whilst fine to drink now, a year or two more in the cellar won't harm.

Raymond Chan Wine Reviews

The nose is intensely penetrating and tightly packed with primary aromas of ripe dark berry fruits - black cherries, spicy oak and fragrance of violets, nuances of liquorice and plums. Medium-bodied and elegantly proportioned, the flavours of dark berry fruits and black cherries are concentrated. This wine has the firmness of youth with emerging oak carrying through to a long and sustained finish with spicy black cherry flavours. A youthful Pinot Noir with intense black fruits and raciness.

Otago Daily Times

BEST VALUE - There's lots of attractive cherry fruit here, a savoury hint of dark chocolate and toasty oak. A lively edge and a crisp finish.

The Marlborough Express

Bright ruby red with a sweet violet, plum, cherry and coconut nose complemented by savoury and green herb notes. Firm, fine tannins and smooth plum and mocha flavours wash across the palate. The acids are well integrated, whilst bacon and spice notes deliver real personality. Full bodied with some appealing fruit cake flavours. Another fine example from Lawson's Dry Hills.
