Michael Cooper - Four Stars

The 2016 vintage is aromatic, mouthfilling and freshly herbaceous, with lively tropical-fruit and green capsicum flavours. Showing good intensity and a crisp dry finish.

Bob Campbell MW - Five Stars / 95points

Quite a concentrated Sauvignon Blanc with typical mineral, tomato leaf, green capsicum and nettle flavours plus a subtle hint of passionfruit. Very Sancerre-like, with with good weight and a lenghty finish. Drink 2016 to 2021.

Canvas - NZ Herald - December 2017

Named after the Maori verb meaning "to mix" - a single bin each of Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer was hand-harvested on April 11th from different blocks, blended and fermented wild, to creat a wine that commemorates Lawson's Dry Hills 25th anniversary. It's a glorious, gussy-up of citrus, peach and musky magic. Juicy and succulent, it's the apple, nashi and lemon verbena notes that lift it to the next level of loveliness. Sip with: gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce.

Amazing colour for the variety. Cherry cola characters on the nose with oaky spiciness. Well focused brooding savoury fruit flavours, chunky tannins and good oak use.

Scented Pinot Noir with rich dark-fleshed plums, black cherry and smoky oak flavours. A succulent wine with a good backbone of drying tannins that help a lengthy finish. Good now, better with a little bottle-age.

Richer, creamier and sweet than the regular label with a hint of toffee, guava, poached pear, anise and spice. A delicately luscious wine in an appealing style. Serve well chilled as a great aperitif or with moderately spicy dishes.

Winestate - Wine of the Year Annual - Best of 2017 - Four and a half stars

$25.00 - $30.00 Interesting wine with pungent passionfruit intensity on the nose and heaps of varietal flavours on the well balanced palate, nice nutty oak and crisp acid line.

The Press - Your Weekend - drinks. - Wine of the Week from Cuisine Magazine.

The top Sauvignon Blanc from the recent Cuisine tasting is a vibrant, punchy style where the generous, fleshy fruit core is framed and driven by a flinty layer and bright acidity. Saturday, December 9th 2017.

Cuisine Magazine issue 186 - January 2018 - Five Stars - Number one in the Top Ten.

TOP NEW ZEALAND SAUVIGNON BLANC - A five star recipient and top 10 place-getter a year ago, this beautifully crafted wine comes back to claim top honours. "It teases the palate with spice, true varietal signature and a little funk" noted Cameron Douglas. It's a vibrant, punchy style where the generous, fleshy fruit core is framed and driven by a flinty layer and bright acidity. The flavour profile includes saffron and Indian spice notes, along with citrus and wet stone. It is a powerful, engaging expression that would be a wonderful accompaniment for fish laksa.

Weighty wine with greater concentration and complexity than the regular label. Passionfruit, struck match, mineral and green capsicum flavours, with a suggestion of cashew nut. An impressive wine with development potential.

Cuisine Magazine issue 180 - Five Stars and Top 10

Smokey intrigue greets the nostrils. Aline of flinty smokiness extends across the palate, providing focus and texture, harmonising with the white peach and greengage notes. This is a wine you would happily match with steamed Marlborough mussels.

Bob Campbell MW - Four stars - 90 points

Quite a dense, flavoursome Pinot Noir with plum, dark cherry and berry flavours plus a strong influence of toasty French oak. A tad closed right now but should become more accessible with bottle age. (26/7/2016)

The Shout - Cameron Douglas - 91 points

Ripe, juicy and fleshy fruits bouquet with aromas of apricot stone, peach, pear, mandarin and apple. Quite floral and with suggestions of wet stone minerals - very attractive. On the palate - just off-dry with a little residual sweetness; fresh and crisp acidity, has a ripeness about it which enchances the orchard fruit flavours suggested on the nose; a wine that dances nicely across the palate - drink now and through to 2026.

Pale gold, chicken stock, flint, touch of smoke and musk on the nose. Quite recital and interesting on the palate, minerally with a nutty, meal dimension. Perhaps a bit oak dominant, that being said it has acidity to counteract the richness. (12/2/2015)
